With year round beautiful weather Central Pasco residents enjoy plenty of outdoor fun. The Land O’ Lakes Community Center at US 41 and School Road features a community center building, softball and football fields and a playground. This is also the site of the annual Central Pasco Chamber of Commerce Flapjack Festival, Jellybean Jamboree, and the Haunted House at Halloween. The Recreation Complex on Collier Parkway is a full featured park with soccer, baseball, football, gymnasium, swimming pool, tennis, and racquetball courts and a playground. For more outdoor adventure, take
your bike or jogging shoes to the Suncoast Parkway Trail. The Suncoast
Trail is a paved recreational trail that runs parallel to the Suncoast Parkway
in Hillsborough, Pasco and Hernando counties. This 400-foot-wide corridor
provides a safe route for bicycle and pedestrian commuting and serves
as a connector between public lands, parks and greenways. The first major
trail connection came about in September 2003 when the J.B. Starkey Trail
was linked to the Suncoast Trail. This connection allows users to easily
access the 8,000 acre J.B. Starkey Park for hiking, biking, horse riding
and camping. The trail encounters rivers, wetland interpretive and wildlife.
As well, you will find rest areas and viewing areas for your relaxation
pleasure. J.B. Starkey’s Flatwoods Adventures, located in Odessa, features a wilderness adventure on a real working cattle ranch. Experienced guides will take you for a ride on a range buggy through flatwoods, sand pine ridges and pastureland with a stop at a 450 foot long boardwalk, through a cypress swamp. For saltwater activities, 30 miles to the west you will find beaches, boat ramps, fishing piers, five gulf front parks and much more. Land O’ Lakes hosts several events throughout the year starting with the Business Expo, Golf Tournament, Fall Harvest Arts & Crafts, and the Land O’ Lakes biggest event is the Flapjack Festival. |
